Easy Deutsch ("we", "our", "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application.
2. Information We Collect
We collect minimal information to provide and improve our services:
- Usage Data: Learning progress, XP earned, and app interaction data stored locally on your device.
- Device Information: Device type, operating system version for crash reporting and analytics.
- Advertising Data: We use Google AdMob to display ads. AdMob may collect advertising identifiers and usage data as described in Google's Privacy Policy.
- Purchase Information: Subscription purchases are processed through Apple App Store or Google Play Store. We do not store payment information.
- Voice Input: When you use the "Talk to AI" feature, your voice is converted to text on your device (or via secure servers). We do not store your voice recordings.
3. How We Use Your Information

4. Data Storage
Your learning data is stored locally on your device using AsyncStorage. We do not transfer your personal learning data to external servers.
5. Artificial Intelligence (AI) Features
Transparency about AI: Easy Deutsch uses third-party AI services to power the "Talk to AI" conversation feature. This section explains exactly what we send, what we don't, and what your rights are.
5.1 Which AI Providers We Use
- Anthropic Claude (via Emergent LLM API) — Generates the AI teacher's German responses in the "Talk to AI" chat.
- ElevenLabs — Converts the AI teacher's German text into natural-sounding speech (Text-to-Speech).
5.2 What We Send to AI Providers
- The text of your message in the "Talk to AI" conversation (so the AI can reply in context).
- The AI's generated German reply text (sent to ElevenLabs to produce audio).
- An anonymous session ID (so the AI remembers the current conversation).
5.3 What We Never Send
- Your name, email address, phone number, or any account credentials (we do not collect these).
- Your device identifier, advertising ID, location, or contacts.
- Your voice recording — speech-to-text runs on your device.
- Any personally identifiable information (PII).
5.4 How Long AI Data Is Kept
Chat messages are processed to generate a reply and are not permanently stored by us. Generated speech audio is cached anonymously on our server for up to 30 days (without any user identifier) to save bandwidth and cost, then automatically deleted.
5.5 AI Providers' Data Use
Under our agreements, Anthropic and ElevenLabs are prohibited from using your text to train their AI models. For their full privacy practices, see:
5.6 Consent and Opt-Out
Using the "Talk to AI" feature is entirely optional. By tapping the microphone or sending a message in that screen, you consent to sending that message to the AI providers listed above. If you do not wish to use AI, simply avoid the "Talk to AI" tab — every other feature of Easy Deutsch works fully without AI.

- Google AdMob: For displaying advertisements

7. Children's Privacy
Our app is suitable for all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
8. Your Rights
You can delete all app data by uninstalling the application. You can opt out of personalized ads through your device settings. You can opt out of AI features by not using the "Talk to AI" tab.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page.
